With 530 Western Ave, we continued our work with Prellwitz Chilinski Architects and The Mount Vernon Company, exploring Green Streets Standards and pocket parks to create a gateway to this Allston neighborhood.
This LEED Gold 5- and 6-story multifamily housing development responds to its urban context on one side, and its residential neighborhood context on the other with a range of sophisticated materials, rooftop plantings, and a pocket park. The entire top floor is devoted to residential amenities, allowing views of the Charles River and the City of Boston. The roof deck with outdoor seating, grills, and moveable planters allows flexible connections to the indoors.
Located on Mackin Street, the pocket park allows a moment of refuge for residents, neighbors and visitors of the Western Avenue retail and commercial spaces.
